Default Anyone use fuel additives?

Hi All,

Anyone ever use fuel additives to improve performace or gas mileage? I used some before when I had my G35. Didn't notice much difference. Now with my IS350, I was thinking of trying some again. Not that the performance of the IS is lacking but, I'd like to improve my gas mileage a bit. Someone told me about some type of pill that you add to every tank full. I think it was called MPG-CAP. Please let me know if you have any recommendations or if you've tried that MPG-CAP stuff.

Thanks,
Erock

Hey there... first post, but I figured I'd stop lurking.

If there was a magic "put this in your tank and you'll suddenly get better gas mileage" don't you think everyone would be doing it? I wouldn't waste the money... it's the equivalent of the "magic elixer" you'd buy in the old days.

Default Top Tier Gas

You are better off spending a few pennies per gallon more on top quality gasoline

Not on the Lexus, but on the Audi, several of my Audiworld friends with turbocharged S4s used to add toluene to their gas to raise the octane. On that car, it made a very significant increase in power - noticable not just on the butt-dyno, but also on drag strip time slips. Probably wouldn't have nearly as much effect on a normally aspirated car like the IS. Toluene is expensive enough that even if it gave a boost in mileage, your cost per mile would go up, not down.
