Default IS350 Electrical Issues - doh! (update, simple fix!)

One of my windows refuses to open . I do live in a cold climate and occasionally will have trouble getting windows to open first time due to temperature of the seal or ice, but this is different because I can't hear the window even trying to open. I understand there is a window lock button, but I assume that it is an 'all or nothing' deal? That is to say theres nothing I could have done to lock an individual window? Any other advice before I take her into the dealer?

cheers.

Ouch. Other than the window lock, that's about it. Unfortunately, power windows are one of those things that either work or don't work (Note: "Somtimes" works falls into "don't work" category). And when they don't work, the only thing you can do is take it to the dealership. There's nothing much else I can think of other than that particular window is on a different fuse in the fusebox.

Cheers,
Kermee

if that is the case then you just need to activate that window. go to that particular window and then roll it down a little bit, then roll it all the way up and hold it up for about 5 seconds. your auto down function should work on the window and it should be able to be controlled from the driver door.

I think mofogasm might be onto something. I went outside and did what he said, I can now hear the window making noise when I try to control it from the drivers seat. Next step is to wait for a warmer day or the next time I'm in an underground parking garage to find out if it works properly when not frozen.

thanks!

I'm happy to report that mofogasm's 'activation' tip did in fact solve the problem...horray!

anytime you unplug the battery you will have to activate all of the windows again.

So the driver can't control any windows except his own until he goes to each door and uses its widow switch? What's the point of that? I can understand wanting to lock out the individual door controls to keep pets or kids safe inside, but I'd think the owner should have full control over his own car.

well it isn't like you do it every time. Just when you unplug the battery which shouldn't be very often. I think there is some sort of check list that the people at the port go through when they first get the car off the boat in order to activate various parts of the car.

no, windows will simply not auto lower down. They will still lower down "manually". I think real problem was that his windows were frozen and he was hitting auto down switch. His window would lower bit by bit even if auto feature was not programmed.
