IS 350 vs G35 Coupe

I am currently looking at both cars. Anyone with experience with both care to comment on why one is better than the other? I belive 2006 G35 6mt has almost 300hp but I have not seen any 0-60 runs to compare to IS 350... Also, I am not looking to buy until Jan 2007 so curious if we are expecting changes to IS 350 by 2007. I know 2007 G35 coupe will have different style and hopefully little more power...

Thanks!

auto IS350 is pretty much just as fast, or maybe a little faster than a manual G35. A redesign is due soon for the G35 so keep that in mind. 07 could hold changes for both cars, coupe/manual/IS460 model might come out, all speculation. G35 ride isnt as comfortable as the IS from what I hear

Quality for quality, the IS350 beats the G35 hands down!

Performance leans towards the G35 manual for driving enthusiasts, but otherwise pure speed is with the IS. If you like manuals, the G35 may be better for you. But if you like to be pampered, the IS would be my choice.

And if you want to wait, the IS coupe/convertible is coming out next January. Perhaps they'll have a manual for the 350? Let's just all pray to whatever Gods we need to...

this is like comparing apples to oranges..
g35 is 2 door coupe. poor quality infiniti leather, if you ever sat in their new M35/M45 whatever else they got, the leather sucks compared to lexus leather.
car is heavy and played out. everyone and their momma got a g35 coupe.
no way you going to get mark levinson quality factory option audio in the g35 coupe.
with that being said, the g35 has less hp and is slower than the lexus.
lexus > infiniti

They're two very different cars. I've never driven the G35 Coupe before but I did own a Nissan 350Z, which is pretty much the same car, but without the luxury. It all depends on what you're looking for.

The 350Z was a PURE driving enthusiast's car. It was everything you wanted in a sports car: good looks, power, handling. I got tired of it after a while because of some tire feathering issues, and generally I outgrew it.

If you're not looking for a pure sports car, then don't bother with the G35. The ride won't be comparable to the IS350. In my opinion, the IS350 is perfect if you want power on demand yet want to drive a pampered luxury vehicle.

A close friend of mine has a G35 coupe. My IS250 by far is better in build, material, ride, and luxury qualities. The G35 is slightly faster than my IS250 but for a daily use car both of us prefer the IS.

only thing g35 coupe is good for is not having to drive coworkers to lunch

G35 Coupe is MUCH faster than an IS250...

Thanks for the replies! Agreed, Lexus will no doubt be of higher quality than Infiniti, not to mention slightly more expensive. I guess I am somewhat drawn to the shape of the 2007 G35 coupe. Sounds like an exciting fall for new cars - e.g., new BMW M3, 335i, IS 460??, new G35???, Evo X

just so you know what's coming out in the future, we'll be seeing a 330i and 335i coupe by the end of the year (the 335i engine being a twin-turbo 300+ hp engine), the lexus IS coupe/vert by january, and an all new G37 sedan (with an all new 320+ hp engine) by the end of the year also (with a vastly improved interior). the new G coupe isn't due to come out until late 2007 as a 2008 model.

i'd say wait til january when all the cards are dealt and all of us aren't just speculating. in addition, all the cars mentioned will be getting unveiled within the next two months (3er coupe and IS coupe/vert in geneva in a couple days, G37 sedan in new york next month). so maybe you'll only have to wait for that long.

also keep in mind that Lexus' are going to retain their value a lot better than infiniti regardless of the year/model.
