button lights...

Are the memory seat, gas, and trunk buttons supposed to light up??? Mine don't.

Button Lights

Mine don't light up either. Looks like we have to operate by feel when it's dark outside.

I don't have memory seats, but my trunk and gas buttons are not illuminated. Lexus got it wrong on this one... it will take a while to memorize the location of the buttons at night when you're filling up or trying to open the trunk.

yeah, no lights here either. Also, does anyone have a light in the trunk or is it just me that is in the dark?

I've got a light in the trunk but I had to turn the switch on. The car was delivered with it in the off position.

They're not supposed to. They're painted icon buttons.

stick your head in the trunk and look up. the light is there and the switch is on it. and yes it does turn off when the truck is closed.

maybe to minimize the number of lighted buttons to avoid confusion at night. These buttons are seldom used while the car is in motion (actually can't and shuoldn't be used while in motion) and are used only when parked or when the door is opened (thus the interior light on). The rear seat window switches are not lighted, either. I'm sure Lexus didn't overlook the buttons or try to cut cost, after all, they spent money on "useless" LED accent lights.

cost cutting = no standard HID. It was probably done to say that the IS starts at under $30,000.

shaolin 12-13-05 01:50 PM

too much electrical stuff....... :egads:

should have HID standard

The interior lights that come on when you open a door should be more than bright enough to see those buttons. If the interior lights DON'T come on when you open a door at night, toggle the left on/off button on your overhead center light. My car came with that switched in the off position, which initially led me to wonder if Lexus thought that the starter button was sufficient nighttime illumination. =)
