Default Help with TPMS issue

Hi everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue with the TPMS system on my 2011 Lexus IS250 after trying to register new sensors.
  • I replaced one TPMS sensor with PMV-107J.
  • I used an Autel tool to trigger/program the sensors.
  • During the process, the TPMS light started flashing rapidly and never stopped.
  • I connected Techstream to re-register the IDs but received this error:
"ID Registration failed due to a communication error with the ECU while in Initialization mode."

It also suggested to terminate initialization by jumping TC and CG of the DLC3 (OBD2) for 30 seconds.

🧪 What I tried:
  • I correctly jumped Pin 13 (TC) and Pin 4 (CG) using a wire for 30 seconds (with ignition ON), but the initialization mode was not canceled.
  • I repeated it multiple times, even with ignition OFF → still no change.
  • I also tried erasing codes via Techstream and re-attempting registration → same error

Please help what can i do now? The TPMS light flashes rapidly

I had to go to the Dealer to get my TPMS to register.

Here is a link that may help you .

First make sure your main/ 2nd set switch is in the right mode. Scan all the sensors and upload the ids to the ECU. Immediately after rescan each sensor starting with the left front, right front, right rear and left rear. DO NOT turn the key off until all the steps are done. If the ECU will not let you upload the ids the ECU probably went into a closed loop. Not sure if they Autel has a Toyota ECU reset feature but you might need a seperate tool.

The problem could be a cable. Mongoose is the one that works fine but it's very pricey. Check Marketplace or see if taking the car to a dealer to reprogram your sensors is cheaper than buying a cable.

I don’t think the Autel needs that cable

Thanks all for your reply.

I don’t think the issue is because of cable as i tried many other scan tools and techstream but same issue. The ECU is stuck in closed loop ( initialization mode)

I’m unable to do anything now, but I’m thinking to use a special tool for relearning the TPMS

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to reset what ever loop it's in?

For my 2008 model, I get the Denso 550-0103 TPMS for $35 at Amazon and no problem getting them installed at Discount Tires.

if your stuck in closed loop and you can’t find someone with a TPMs tool that will reset the ECU you can try to find Bartec WRTRST50 to get you out of the closed loop
