Question Replacing carpets

Hello Club Lexus old timers,

has anyone done a carpet replacement on the 2IS? I don't mean the floor mats, I mean the interior carpet. I would like to swap the cream one for black one (like it was the standard on later models). Can't find anything in the repair manual, no DIYs on YT either. I imagine it's similar procedure to IS300:

Yep close enough. Didn't watch the video but make sure to remove the negative battery terminal before you start.

It’s not really difficult. I’ve pulled the carpets out of a few models and it’s all the same. It’s just tedious but not hard.

- Be careful removing the plastic trim. The attaching clips are somewhat fragile. Use a plastic/ABS panel tool and go slowly. same with the seat rail end caps, the clips on those can break relatively easily.
- If necessary, get a helper to remove the front seats. They can be heavy, and the attached rails can damage leather or interior bits if you mis-handle them while removing them.

If interested, while you have the carpets out is a great time to add some acoustic paneling if you want. Some on the floorboards, then take off the door cards and put some on the outer panel, and it can greatly reduce cabin noise.
