Default Need help car suddenly lost power

Driving down the freeway. Car suddenly loses power. Got it towed home. Battery totally dead and replaced. Car turns over but will not start. Seems to of lost compression. But not totally sure of that. Once home i inspected the engine compartment and the radiator Cap had exploded lost all fluid. Replace both a long with the battery. Getting no codes due to battery replacement. What should I do now?

Reply # 11 - whitebeast Change your alternator and you're good to go. My car has same problem and come out is alternator. 5 others member has same problem as well and all of them has bad alternator. FYI, you also got mis-fire if you're trying to drive it. 99.9999% alternator fail!!!!!

How much coolant was added to the block to fill it and how long were you driving when it lost coolant?

Check the engine oil for coolant. i.e. drain it into a pan and pour that into clear containers.

What does it sound like when it's cranking? What made you write about possible compression loss?

With the battery totally dead I'd also suspect your alternator could have issues. Have it tested.
