I have a 2002 Lexus IS300 Sportcross and I am looking to see how difficult it is to swap a 1UZ motor since my 2jz-ge gave out after 200k miles. I wanted to know if I can use the same 5 speed Auto transmission and if the ECU is plug and play. I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything that useful other than it'll need different engine mounts, but is that all I need? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

my write up is on clublexus. Search "1uz vvti rs5r30a" There's plenty of info there. I didn't use the auto trans with the swap. Brad Bedell used the auto with his swap some 11 years ago.

essentially it bolts in. minor hammering on the firewall is needed to make it fit. the 5 speed auto from the uz can fit, but you'll need to use the "guibo" and gs400 driveshaft flange with the is300 driveshaft to make it work. You'll also need to shim the trans down a little so that this "guibo" doesn't interfere with the is shifter in trans tunnel (search aristo swap and you'll see what i"m talking about).


looking back at the wiring, it isn't that difficult to wire in the vehicle. You'll lose the water temperature gauge function unless you have some type of can-bus converter, which are available from all4swap so the multiplex signals communicate.
