Default 01 IS Won't rev past 4000

Hi guys!
I just bought a 2001 lexus is300 yesterday and to my surprise when I took it for a drive today i tried flooring it and it won't rev past 4000rpm, in neutral or driving, no engine light nothing.
I took it on the freeway in manual mode and dropped it into 3rd and engine light came on but when away when i shifted back in 4th since it wasnt over 4000rpm anymore

The guy wont tell me anything and it's really got me down thinking I just lost 4k D:

It's in limp mode.

Get a OBD2 reader and pull the codes. Something in the engine bay is probably unplugged or you have some fuses that blew.

Thanks for the reply
so there is no stored codes, And I've hit two different places and they couldn't find a code either.

I've disconnected the battery and also have taken the ecu out to inspect/reset it being very gentle and it hasn't made a difference

I did notice that it's missing the a/c fuse but I don't think that would cause this problem...

No codes.... Do you smell unburnt gas from the exhaust? If so, one cylinder may not be firing.
How about oily residue floating atop of your coolant in the radiator?

I don't think I smell any unburnt fuel and the thing runs beautifully and doesn't sound like it but it could be misfiring, I bought some new wires and plugs that are coming in soon hopefully.
the coolant is a beautiful ruby red.

The guy I bought it from said it needs a reflash because he let the battery die for too long etc and or that a brake sensor is touching or something :/

drive it around under load for a few minutes. See if there's a check engine light or DTC that's triggered. Could be a number of issues,

MAF, Fuel pump, throttle body assembly.

Never heard of an ECU needing a flash after sitting for too long. not saying it doesn't exist, I've just never heard of this.

So I replaced the MAF and reset the ecu for the whole night then installed it all back together and didn't fix anything.

SOoooo I have two options, either take it to PRE (portland racing engineering) and have them run it on their dyno or take it to toyota the stealership for the same price (around $150) to solve this situation because before I buy a ton of parts I would like a source x.x

UNLESS maybe it is the fuel pump etc, I have an obd2 that does live reading but Idk what to compare them to

Nothing blinking, she sounds beautiful, rides beautiful, no lights at all and no stored codes.
I took her on the track and got her close to 90mph and it hit 4k then instantly dropped to 3k

Just as an update, we took off the crank sensor and noticed one of the crank gears teeth was damaged, gonna be changing it on Monday and will keep this up to date

Apparently previous owner tried to use a screw driver to get it off when they did the timing belt 8k miles ago smh...

FIXED
Soooo, after doing a complete timing belt kit etc and a new crank timing gear, she now revs past 4000!!!!
So ANYONE who is experiencing this, just take out your crank sensor and look into the small hole, you'll see small little teeth, have a buddy turn the crankshaft and watch all the teeth on the gear to see if something is damaged.
Mine was BARELY damaged but was just enough to let it run to 3500-4000rpm.

I love my now fully functioning 2JZ!!!

SIDENOTE:
My crank sensor was covered in oil though, so that could've also been the problem...
