2004 IS 300 5-Speed


My first gear bearing seized and now the transmission shop says they cannot get the gear off the shaft. So my options are buy a new output shaft, 1st gear and 2nd gear as well as all new bearings, 5th gear idler broke so need that gear as well and syncro rings in order to rebuild everything. After labor and parts is going to be cheaper to buy a whole new transmission and quite frankly would be way more reliable than piecing my old one back together. I just ordered a new one through Lexus of South Atlanta from their online parts ordering service and my money was just refunded to my paypal due to the transmission being discontinued. I cannot find one of these trannys anywhere. Does anyone know of a reputable place to order from that I can get a refurbished or new transmission from? All the sites I find look way to sketchy and they never answer the phone. Ive been paying out of pocket for a rental for 2 weeks now and its killing me financially. Any help would be appreciated.

Doesn't surprise me to hear it's discontinued... you will probably have better luck picking up a used one from the wreckers yards, or forums.
