Rebuild? Replace engine? Sell??
I've been lurking for a while, but this is my first thread. I've got an 02, 5spd IS with about 126k miles. Car was a total dream until a few months back when the engine overheated due to a busted radiator cap, and even though I shut it down as soon as I realized what was happening, it was enough to cause damage a few months later: misfiring cylinders, engine oil leak, etc. I'm weighing my options on whether to get the laundry list of issues fixed (dealer quoted $4800, but obviously shopping around for non-dealer prices), total engine replacement (concerned that there could be longer term damage that just hasn't shown up yet), or selling. Any thoughts on the rebuild vs replace issue at least?
Thanks.
Thanks.

depending on the mileage...you can find some motors around or below 100k for around 1-1500. and obviously, the more miles, the less the motor. depending where you take the motor will determine the cost of labor. there's a lot of momz and popz shops in LA and in the IE that do swaps or motor replacements. total could be up to $2.5-3000 w/ motor. good luck
