Depending on the maintenance of the previous owner(s) really. If it was well taken care of you still have a long way to go. If it really does bother you, do a compression test. If it still has good compression and you are still weary, start saving a little fund for a rebuild. My .2

the 2JZ is/was one of Toyotas best engines. I just traded my 03 a couple of weeks ago and it had just over 220k on it and it was running well. I had to go to a thicker oil though...I believe went with castro full synthetic 10w-40.


depending on your location, it's not hard to find a "younger" 2JZ. if you're in socal, that's the land of plenty! you can even get a jdm motor if you want!

Mine has 244,600 miles since I bought it new in 2001. Still going strong.

2jz motor is an extremely well and over built motor and has been seen even to handle 300k + even though the mileage is high it will keep on going. And when it does give out throw in a new one for cheap.
