Best way to check a car's reliability: get quotes on an extended warranty. THEY know what it's going to cost to maintain every car on the road.
BTW: They use a rating score of 1 to 8. 1's need the fewest and least costly repairs; 8's need the most repairs and they cost the most to repair. I don't have the complete list but I do know all models of Subaru are 1's. The IS300 is a 3. All models of Mercedes, BMW, and Audi are 8's.
