Default new 01 is300..looking to trade carbon fiber hood

hi - i dont know if this the right forum. i just recently bought an 01 is300. its a sweet car. however it came with parts i wasnt too thrilled with. black carbon fiber hood and yellow lens on the headlights.

i think for the lens i just have to try to heat it up and remove the film...or it could be smog?

as for the hood im looking to trade for a stock white one. any interests? see attached pic.

the headlights look to be just a film. you may be able to just peal it off like a sticker.

finding someone with a white car to trade hoods is going to be hard. i would try the local forums. you may have to just sell the hood and buy a oem replacement and have it painted.

Probably not worth it IMO.

Carbon Fiber can crack and all that cood stuff. Better going with a used on and getting it painted

you can paint over that hood without issue. only thing i would be concerned about is running a CF hood without hood pins. i've heard too many stories of the latch not holding good enough

Alot of people dont know how to push firmly down on the carbon hood to make sure it clicks. The hood pins look very tacky not a clean look at all. Trust me i have them due to the latch is completly gone. On my Subaru ive have a carbon hood on it for the past 5 years no issues with it ever popping up as long as u double check to make sure it clicked. YOUR GOOD. G.L with the trade. TOO BAD UR SO FAR. I would trade you.

The problem isn't with the latch mechanism fully closing, it's with the latch (or whatever it's called) breaking or separating from the fiberglass.

I would suggest going up to a local IS300 owner and asking to switch hoods.
Or post it on craigslist - free trade.

People love carbon fiber hoods
I have one and I painted the corners white.
Doesn't look that bad and I have no issues with fitment

Could be. A lot of people are running CF hoods without hoodpins without any issues but I'll run them for piece of mind. Even the expensive TRD CF Hoods have failed.

quick search..

I would trade hoods with you except my car is silver. We can still trade if you want to get it repainted I know a couple shops might do it cheap to. Just send me a message.

It's pretty rare to see someone selling a hood with the same color as your car. Your best bet is to paint a new one.
