No. LSD was a factory option that was available from 2001 to midway through 2004 production models. 2005 models did not come with LSD. I swapped an LSD pumpkin into my 2005 5 speed and yes, both wheels spin.

How to tell if my IS300 has LSD?
Look at the sticker on your driver door sill/jamb, look for the area that reads "A/TM"
You'll see numbers such as B02A, B02B, B02C
A=no LSD
B,C = LSD
If you are still unsure, call 1800 25 LEXUS and ask them to look up your VIN and they can tell you what options it came equipped it from the factory.

If you bought your car second hand, there is a possibility the owner of a non-LSD IS300 swapped in a factory LSD, if this is not disclosed, it makes things a bit more challenging.
Here are pics and info on how to distinguish the two by looking at the gears;

The methods of doing a burn out and checking if there are one or two tire marks / jacking up the car and spinning the wheels are somewhat debated and I am unsure if this is a valid way of determining if your car has lsd or not.

Yeah you have 1.5 way and 2 way LSD's. Trustworthy companies are mainly Kaaz, Torsen, TRD, and Kazuma. LSD's are around 1xxx bucks new.

Or you can buy an LSD pumpkin/carrier from an IS300 and it's a direct swap.

Remove axles and open diff carrier, install LSD carrier then bolt the axles back up.

My friend and I did it with my car on jack stands. I paid $550 shipped for my manual LSD pumpkin.

If you buy an aftermarket LSD you have to remove your carrier, open it, and have a shop install it. There are a TON of things that have to be in spec.

Honestly, why not start drifting on the stock LSD diff? Plenty of guys do. And it's much cheaper.

I've also seen this, but I don't have any experience with it nor have I looked into it.

I just swapped an LSD pumpkin on my car and kept my open pumpkin incase something ever happens. Then I can get a 1.5 LSD or 2 way

1.5 is better for street/road racing.
2 way is going to be better for drifting.

I'm pretty sure I would go 1.5 if the car is not going to be a dedicated drift car. Google will be your friend for helping you determine that if you decide not to go OEM.

I bought mine used from the for sale forums on my.is. I don't know if you can get them from the dealer, but they would be outrageous anyway. They usually pop up for sale there or on eBay for around $500-600.

Look through the threads I posted and it gives you all the info you need to go looking through a local junkyard. You may get lucky there and find one pretty cheap.

And another link incase you want to look into the Supra LSD.

AND the OEM pumpkin is the only LSD option that will be a direct swap. I forgot you have to unbolt the driveshaft also lol. This is what you need for a direct swap...

Have you tried keep a car sideways with a open diff? Unless its wet its hard to keep a slide with a open diff.

I didn't say anything about drifting with an open diff. And yes, my car started out with an open diff. It sucked. I swapped in an OEM LSD diff and it's night and day difference when sliding around.

I was just saying why not look for a relatively cheap OEM LSD rather than paying more $$$$ to buy a 1.5 or 2 way and then pay $$$ having it installed.
