Default Black headlight mod, thanks to CL

I just did the mod, and its not for the faint of heart. The only difference in what I did vs what was shown in the sticky, is that I VHT'd my turn signal lenses, so that they too would be black, but still be functional. Here are the results, and that pine needle is out.

One key update to the method used to re-assemble the headlight,
1. do not scrape the old adhesive away
2. add a small bead of clear rtv to the housing
3. fit the halves together
4. put them back in the oven for the same amount of time(250 for 7min)
5. pull them out and squeeze them together really hard, use gloves, this must be done while hot, but its tricky, but worth not having to worry about leaks or durability

i agree with stopitnow, its not for the faint of heart doing this mod...after struggling a bit with my headlights, i was finally able to finish it..i used more material than listed. i think the 250 for 7 min needs to be upped to 300 for 7 min or something, it didnt even make the sealant soft @ 7min..

Seriously?

For all headlights, I've always used 225 for 3-5 minutes and never had a problem pulling them apart or squeezing back together...

I dont know why my headlights were different...would have been nice to finish it in 3 hrs instead of a whole day..
