No you won't need the safc at all. You can make your car run ok with an safc up to a certain point but there are so many more options now that work way better and cost the same.

Years ago there weren't that many other better solutions for piggys so AFC was used with some success (low boost setups). Apex'i AFC Neo goes for what, $300-$400? FIC is just over $300 but it has many more features. Many IS guys and even GS guys, including me, are using them with success.

At the end of the day, a standalone is the best way to go. But thankfully, today there are affordable piggybacks out there that will give us just enough ability to tune your car with minimal issues at a fraction of the cost of a standalone.

No no no just get a stand alone. Dont waste anymore money on anything else. Thats where you will be able to get the best fine tuning to make it a good running car

Give megasquirt a try 300$ full standalone unit. I've used it on my previous toyota, and was happy with the levels of adjust ability and the results. When I did it the latest edition was the Megasquirt II w/V3 board.. now they have quitet a bit more to choose from. I would not go with anything less than an MSII, MSIII(new), MSPNP(new).

What I did was put a 2jzge vvti head onto a 1jz block and the motor seems to run fine but I have some minor problems and issues.
This is my build and mods list

arp head studs
gte head gasket
t70 turbo
Intercooler and piping
tial wastegate
hks replica bov
440cc injectors
STOCK TRANNY which leaks minor…
Not sure what manifold I have but im running open downpipe right now.

Car is tuned at 5 psi on a safc but runs rich at idle because I have both o2 senors disconnected.

Let me know your opinions on my build because I know this hasn’t been done before anywhere and im still not done but my future plans right now are to:

Aem Standalone and tune
Valve body swap on the tranny
Stock exhaust with cutout
why did you got with 440s? thats going to limit you as well.

the manifold is probably a basic ebay unit since its the GE head.

IMO i would spend the money on a Pro EFI, Valve Body upgrade and 3inch exhaust. those cutouts leak all the time

Just talk to your tuner and see what he recommends. With so many options out there, at the end of the day, you can buy the best engine management out there but it will only be as good as the person tuning it.

Baadhabit brought up a good point, you can max those 440s pretty quick so I would do at least 550s just to be safe. You can never have enough fuel.

1hp=1cc at 100% duty cycle... so i would go with 750cc injectors and run them at 70-80% duty cycle. it will save you money and time on tunning and will have a longer life on them. when you run injectors at 100% or higher they wont last long on a DD.

general rule is 80% of injector CC equals max hp. so 440 x 80% = 350HP~

Pro Efi is a new ecu from some of the original AEM guys. supposed to be way better than AEM and run smoother. more like stock. supra forums has a lot of discussion on this.

Default Update

350 is perfect for now, but i am def gonna upgrade them after i get all the work done.

and

i took the car apart and figured out that there's suppose to be 4 o2 senors but i only have one hooked up... so right now i am putting in the other o2 sensor because it only needs 2 correct?

1st o2 sensor goes to cylinders 1,2,3
2nd o2 sensor foes to cylinders 4,5,6

also i bought a new radiator and plugged the vacuum leak and tuned it a little bit with the safc for idle now it seems to run a little better but i haven't tuned it for driving yet...

also my stainless steel oil drain line is leaking oil.... what to doo...

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY A VALVE BODY SWAP?
i want my tranny to handle at least 500 reliably
