Default Refurbished my Altezza grill

I bought a used Altezza grill from a member on my.IS in rough condition. The only real problems were the rattle can paint and a broken center tab. It looks as if the original owner had a bad reaction when painted the grill and left it as is. Since I have an aluminum radiator panel, the broken center tab isn't even You can't see it, and the panel supports the grill.

I spent some sanding the old paint smooth and wet sanding until the rock chips were gone. Once prep was done, I brought it to a shop for a professional paint job to match my car (Black 202). The Altezza badge's back plate cannot be removed (I think it's welded), so I got some new aluminum powder coated mesh from customcargrills.com It was almost a perfect match. I trimmed it to fit, and mounted it. I also got an emblem holder from an 02+ stock grill which was trimmed flat. I used zip ties and a foam insert to hold it to the grill. I also did a DIY black pearl paint job on my emblem. Before I install the grill, I have to wait a couple weeks for it to cure, and then I'm bringing it to AeroTect for clear bra.

I still have it. I'm going to keep it so I can switch things up a little when I get bored lol.

nicely done !

looks great.

one suggestion is remove the OEM grill emblem from the oval backing plate it sits on,.... and just use 3m tape or silicone adhesive to stick it to the grill mesh directly...
you get less obstruction to air flow around the badge and it sits much flatter & closer to the grill itself for a cleaner look...... i have used basic 3m adhesive foam tape to stick all my emblems to the grill mesh of all my various grills over the years and have had No problems with it loosening up & them falling off ... just use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the foam tape nicely & that shiz sticks to any thing REALLY well...

rock on!

Thanks Ed, but I actually like the backing. If I get bored with it, I might paint my extra emblem, and put it on bare.

Thanks Josh. If I decide to sell it, I think you're 3rd in line, and I hadn't even considered it yet haha.
