after:

the bad: i found that i had a broken cv boot on the drivers side, and i broke a swaybar endlink on the drivers side... also, the VSC sensor on the front left was broken, which explains why my traction control kept going on when i turned. so i pulled the fuze to the abs till i can fix the problem. any help would be appericated.

The upkeep really isn't that bad, as long as you wash them every time you wash your car you'll be alright. Also I have slotted/drilled rotors & really good pads that don't make a lot of dust, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. But I painted them last year, and it's due for another coat, the winter messed up the paint a lot...
My technique for painting is
#1 - Scuff the rims up pretty good with gritty sandpaper. (this removes all the dirt and grease built up on the wheels & makes a rough surface for the paint to grip better.
#2 - Wash the dust off with a hose & let dry for 10-15 minutes then wipe down
#3 - Mask the tires really well with tape and newspaper.
#4 - Spray 3 light coats of paint, giving 1 hour interval curing time between each coat.... I used the high temperature engine paint. You can get it at pepboys/autozone for like $5 per can. You will need 2 cans for 4 wheels.
#5 - Spray 3 or 4 light coats of clear coat, giving 15 minutes interval between coats. Be sure you get something high temperature
****Don't spray on too thick, thick parts & runs will have yellowish tint****
#6 - sexy wheel time!!!
