2001 IS300 was shifting strange. Hooked it up to a scanner and it sometimes was going from 1st to 3rd gear by-passing 2nd, will sometime give an "invalid" reading on the scanner while in 2nd or while by-passing it to go to third. If I accelerate aggressively it seems to go into 2nd most/all the time.
I also swear it will sometimes start from a stop in 3rd (might be 2nd), but have not had the scanner hooked up at the time.
I assume this is an ECU problem, but was looking for a little help.
While there are several ECUs for sale, I have heard I will need to drop around $1,000 at the dealership to get it "Re-Flashed".
Just bought the car used, so I am afraid I do not know much about the history.
Fluid level is fine, although a little dirty.
