Originally posted by Christobol Oh no don't go that route. I think it is so funny to see cars that look cool, but nothing beyond that. What is the point of looking fast, when you can't back it up? I would much rather have a sleeper. Plus if you go and start modifying the looks of the car you could run into problems with the cops noticing your car more than they currently do.
Well, different people have different opinions. The IS300 is fast enough for me as it is. There's nothing wrong with giving it a little more aggressive look, and separate yours from others. Most of the car kits nowadays are for looks anywayz. How many people with a nice car kit actually go street racing for real? It's all for show.
Originally posted by Christobol One thing that most people don't realize about coilovers is there are cheap inserts, and then there are the real ones. The real coilovers are going to run you 2 grand. At best you might be able to get them for 1600 at an INCREDIBLE discount. If you spend less than that you're not getting a true coilover. Just don't go cheap, it's not worth it.
You can get Tien Ha coilover for around 1k.. It's good coilover too. There's a group by on IS300.net in Sales Y Trade forum.
That group buy has been over for 2 weeks now, unless another one has started. I was going to get it, and we had gotten the price down to $850. I opted out. Anyway I meet a guy who works for one of the major Japaneese auto parts makers, and he asked me not to say his name because a few of you might know him... Anyway he explained to me why the Tein HA's were so cheap. He might be wrong, but the guy does know his stuff. I'm going to take my car into his office in LA to have them do a few tests to determine what the best suspension setup is for Autocross.
If there is a group buy for the Tein HA coilovers, they shold be WAY cheaper than 1k. Look for a guy named Brian in the suspension section who was orginizing the previous group buy. He bought through a place that sells the HA's for 1k to anyone. He was able to get the price down to $850 with 10 people. I'm sure he can give you the name of the place where you can buy.
