very nice, what are the buttons next the trac off? seat warmers?

jw do you know what led lights up which part of the cluster?

anotherLS 01-24-09 05:42 PM

looks great bro! i want the nav housing also so i can get that same alpine screen!

IS3_FTW 01-24-09 06:47 PM

On the pwr/snow button. Did you just change the bulb? Mine doenst light up.

The cluster and the high beams looks good.
What color is it really, and are you going to do the rest of the center console?

lexdymndz 01-24-09 09:21 PM

very nice.

ok:

1.) thanks for all the nice comments. tomorrow with the help of my dad. i hope to have all this installed.

2)"what are the buttons next the trac off? seat warmers?": yes they are the left and right front seat warmers

3.)"looks great bro! i want the nav housing also so i can get that same alpine screen! " just a heads up....im going to have to cut the nav housing to get it to fit thanks to the buttons on the right side of the alpine screen. but i dont think it will be too bad. cant wait really!

4.)"On the pwr/snow button. Did you just change the bulb? Mine doenst light up." yes. mine was the same way. the part number is 84999-10420 $12 from lexus $2.50 from carson toyota.

to install it: slide out the panel holding the trac button and seat warmers.
then pry up the chrome ring around the shifter(the part furthest away from dash first) then the rest of the panel should come up. unplug the 2 plugs from cig lighter and 1 from ash tray.then you should be able to pull up a little on the dash side of the shifter eliptical plastic and you can feel the pwr/switch. push up on the underside of it...should pop out. you will see the tiny lil socket. replace and enjoy

5.)"What color is it really, and are you going to do the rest of the center console?" its more of a very blue white. i wish it was bright white. but i think the only way to do that is to either buy the blue looking bulbs from autolumination or to do the full led mod where you disassemble the cluster....not for me. also you cant tell but i bought a new cluster lense(clear plastic that protects the gauges) it was scratched and nasty. so its crystal clear now. it was $23 from carson.

Cant wait to get my alpine nav! but i could only afford this part now. so i figured i might as well install it while i can! once complete i'll get a backup camera and be all done!

Okay, so you didnt use Autolumination. What did you use?

Very nice

3rdelement 01-25-09 10:20 AM

Is3_ftw. i did use autolumination. i purchased the leds...not the bulbs. their is a huge thread on my.is about the history of those bulbs....i just havent seen a definative answer if they ever fixed the premature dying of them. so i went with leds. :)

Seize! thanks! once all this ice is in...i guess all thats left is going to be a nice front lip...or a full body kit. ;)

I was a little confused at first about the full LED mod of Disassembling the cluster...Not for me.

By that, did you mean the sticky on top of this section, written by O.L.T?

3rdelement 01-25-09 03:15 PM

yeah brians post about the diassamby of the entire cluster and arranging the leds....not for me

i just did the drop in leds mentioned earlier.

status update....im 3/4 of the way through fabrication for the nav screen housing and alpine merge. :)

Excellent job with the analogue gage cluster LED conversion. I also like that Alpine navi as it provides the OEM look.
