Ok, I am itching to buy a new ride What should I get?
Current Ride: 01 Millenium Silver IS300
Current Mileage: 41,000 miles
Months in Service: 11 months since I bought it new last year.
I am getting kinda bored and do not want to dump $6-7K for forced induction. I have taken a quick peek at the $30-40K market. Here are some that might be interesting. Any input folks? Also what kind of trade in could I get for my ride. It is immaculate minus the high mileage.
1. '02 A4 1.8T with a CVT
2. '02 TT quattro, 225hp version coupe
3. '02 C230 coupe
4. '02 C32 (I would have to get a loan for this one )
5. '03 G35 (This would be sometime in April of 02)
6. '03 Z (This would be sometime in August of 02)
7. '02 Q45 (I know this one is way out there but I can get it a 5%below invoice)
The last three listed are a bit iffy. Ideally, I don't want to wait that long for a new car nor something so large (Q45)

Lexus Fanatic
Personally, for me, I would pick them in this order (plus the reason)
Q45 - I'm more into fast luxury cars that can be made to handle well rather than a dinky sports car...the Q offers Space, Speed, and with a little bit of modding, some decent handling (granted, it's no Porsche no matter WHAT you do, but I can live with that). Plus, they have some nice clean body kits for that car...
A4 (Quattro 1.8T) - The new A4 looks nice and Oettinger's body kit looks tight! Plus the 1.8T has some potential for some extra power via aftermarket add-ons...
G35 - I think this will be a very nice car from what I've read and seen in pictures...plus I'm sure there will be a ton of aftermarket stuff for it soon. Decent power but we'll have to see what Infiniti does in terms of pricing...
New Z - Even though I'm not a "sports car" person (I like them, but unless I have several other cars, I don't need sports car...I can get plenty of speeding tickets in my GS430), this is a VERY NICE re-introduction of a classic. Be prepared to get RAPED at the dealership. Demand is already high.
TT Quattro - Complete impractical. Nice looking and quick and handles pretty well, but I don't know, sometimes, I need to carry sometime other than one other passenger...
C32 - Be ready to pay at LEAST $5K-$10K over sticker (RAPED w/o even a reach around). There is a huge waiting list for this...personally, I would rather keep the IS300 and turbocharge it...then sneak up on an unsuspecting C32 owner and smoke their **** off...then you can laugh because you're Turbo'd IS300 is about 1/2 the prices with all the features of the C32...but faster and built better.
C230K - Over a IS? What's the point? A FULLY loaded C230K is almost as good as IS but by the time you fully load it up, it's more than what you can haggle a IS300 for...granted, it looks different and whatnot (I think it's a decent looking car to tell you the truth) and you can mod it pretty well (check out Brabus's website along with Carlsson and Lorinser to name a few) but it's a bit over priced...if it was $25K Fully loaded, I would rate it higher in consideration...for $31K with no nav (not that that's much of a lost if you've ever used the COMAND system...what a POS!), eh, I'd rather have the solid reliability of the IS300...

Hmm
not sure your reasons for selling but all thoughs car are a too similar to the is300 in my opinion to sell it for with the exception of 6 and 7. Id go with the Z personally.
as for trade in doesnt matter if your cars is immaculate that mileage is going to kill u. 41k is300 2001 in this economy if u get 20k from a dealer ur going to be lucky.

if ur thinking of getting a new car.. i saw one of ur choices to be an A4, but why get the A4? get the S4... dats around ur price range am i correct? there is nothing like getting things stock! the warranty on those things are great! and a 1.8T maxed out would be similar to the speed that an S4 bi-turbo engine will create! so.. i say screw all those and get an S4!!!!

Hey good to hear from you Mike! Did you hear? I finally got a job. I'm back in the game. It is a bit iffy as to whether or not I will be at the Van Nuys KK meet. I am waking up these days at 6am to get to work in Torrance by 8:30am. Even with a carpool buddy it is pretty hard commute. I am gonna have to move soon to the south bay. I will give you a call on Thursday afternoon if I end up going. See you soon.

You can only get the CVT with a FrontTrak version of the A4 though... and I think the quattro is one of Audi's best points. I personally would never get a Audi without quattro since it snows regularly around here. Also, the Audi A4 3.0 is in your $30-40k price range. Improvemet over the 1.8T... not sure if it warrants the extra $6-7,000 though.
