News on Trunk Light LED's
I just received an email from DPstore:
"Hello, this is your daily update. Your bulbs are not defective. We will have instructions in a day or so how to make them work properly as the Lexus is not wired for LED lamps in the brake socket." That is the latest word guys and I will post the instructions once they send me a response.... :o |
Here is what they call a fix...
Link to Bulb Description Here was their response to me: "We went and borrowed a 2001 is300 coupe from the local dealer and figured it out. We posted what we found with the bulb description http://store.yahoo.com/dpstore/dp-lb20220.html" I actually don't even think that will work. I will have to look at a regular 7443 socket and how it operates to see if it will even work with our wiring system. Back to the Drawing Board. |
I figured out the problem guys...
Their fix is a bunch of BS... I put the LED's in my Girl's Honda Accord and they do not function correctly. After examining the bulb closely I found that they are not soldered correctly. In the stock bulb there is two seperate filament circuits... one for parking lights and one for brake lights. OK there should also be 2 circuits for the LED's. I looked inside and they must have accidentally soldered both circuits together. So, what is happening is when you plug the bulbs in and turn the brake lights on it is finding a ground through the brake light wire instead of the ground wire. I know it is confusing but it is directing the current AWAY from the LED's instead of to them. Anyway I sent them an email explaining this and here is their response... "Hello, the reason it took so long for me to respond the firs time is that we went and got an is300 and did test the fix before I posted it. You seem to have good electrical skills and certainly the resistors should not be soldered together. Please send your units for an exchange with a copy of this email to: APC Attn Brandyn Harris EXCHANGE 252 Granite Street Corona, CA 92879 Please send them trackable and email me the tracking number so I can keep on top of it from here. Thanks" So anyone else who is having this problem contact DPStore and arrange to send them back explaining that you are having the same problem as I am. Now that it has been brought to their attention there shouldn't be a problem. :D |
thanks for the info vista...:) tell me how everything works out, ill try to send mine in asap. but i doubt theyll even have the dual filament ones so i might ask for a refund.
