Default Problem filling up the gas tank

I have a 2002 IS300 and it takes me for ever to fill up the tank. Any one know what's going on? Please help.

i was wondering if i was the only person with this problem...

i cant let the pump fill mine up on its own-i have to manually hold it there...and it stops like every 4 or 5 seconds unless i hold the gas handle upside down...

its really bugging me and i cant figure out what it is...

Usually this indicates a problem with the EVAP system and the charcoal filter.
The EVAP vents the filler neck as the tank fills.

there is a little tube in the friont of the motor under the intake tube... it has ahose connected to it &thqa t runs to a little black valve thignthat connects via two hoses to the intake box.. .if your car is stock this thing is bolted tothe intake box... facing the motor it is on the right side near the alternator etc...

the tube this thing has on it usually is connected to a nipple on the underside of an aftermarket intake

often with an aftermarket intake etc this tube is some times blocked or kinked & it prevents the gas tank from filling smoothly.. as the fumes in the nearly empty tank have no where to gowhen you are filling up.... i'll bet you hear a loud hissing from the filler tube as the gas fumes escape past the filler nozzle when the flow stops....

right?

check out this problem at www.IS300.net some one there posted detailed pics of the parts in question & what to look for usually it is just that intake breather type tube/hose that needs to be unkinked

it is frustrating tho i struggled with this problem for like 2 months before i figured out what it was with a little help from my friends...

good luck
