Default TRD muffler

Is it worth to purchase a TRD muffler? I'd like to keep my car at the same sound level to the OEM but add a little more HP. There was somene (I think in this forum) who had to modify (lengthen the tip) the TRD muffler since it burned the lower section of the rear. I don't mind the little mod but I just want to get some opinion from you guys. Thanks

Post TRD Intake + Muffler

I just hade a TRD muffler and Intake installed on my '01 IS on Tuesday... 09/25/01

The car has a low humming sounds when driven normally but it screams when revving it in high RPMs.

When I asked for specs from the master tech at lexus he told me that it should give me 35HP boost... but I'm a bit sceptical...

The car sounds great and it has a bit more kick to it...
I have no complaints...

Hope this helps...

35 hp boost!?!?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?! was he on crack!?!?!!
not possible.. no way, maybe when hell freezes over..
at best the TRD should give around 5.5 rwhp..maybe up to 7rwhp..
35hp is not realistic in any sense.. sorry to brust your bubble..
everyone will agree with me on this one..

the most powerful exhaust , that i know of, so far, is the HKS hiper.. i think it gains around 10rwhp, though 8rwhp is more logical and realistic...

from what i know the TRD and L TUned exhaust's run about the same for price and power..
around 650 to 700 each and around 6hp to 8 hp each..

$2000!!!!

You got ripped off man, to the tune of $1000+!!!
That's insane, I've got the Area 51 intake/Blackbox + a 5zigen exhaust for a grand total of $820 and they produce probably close to double the HP your combo does.
