Default Electronic shift gear goes Crazy!!!!!

hello everyone!

Okay I had 2001 IS300 w/72000 miles on it. Now I had a problem with the electronic shift. It's okay when I first started the car and drove for 14 mins, then suddenly it started shift to manual display on the dash screen and then back to automactic display. It kept doing this way back and forth. Then it stayed on manual function until I shifted to other gears (N, P,2,1). While on the manual mode, I was able to shift 1, 2 ,3 ,4,5 gears without any problem. However, the automatic mode did not display on the dashboard screen. Does anyone encount this problem before? I don't know if the electronic shift go crazy or what? Please help ! Thank you

It's very difficult to tell you what the exact problem on the car is. But if you take it back to the dealership, they might very well fix it for you for free since this can lead to a potential accident.

Has this car had the transmission ECU (Electronic Control Unit) reprogrammed? That is a Service Bulletin that was issued by the factory for certain 2001 E-Shifts, and should be applied for free.
