no the problem is only in 01 i think, i have not had any problems on my 03 yet

if you have money, putting anything in the car isn't hard. i have seen a lot of people doing some different HU setup

ok i think i am going for the 2001 model since its cheaper and it seems there are more out there. but one question. on the shifter there is a "D-M" slot and i was wondering about that. do you actually shift over to "M" when shifting with the steering wheel? and also... do you get full control of shifts and rpms? i mean... if you are going from first to second gear... will it let you go to high rpms without shifting? or do you shift manually with the car on "D"?

1) you sure about 01? no autodim mirror, no armrest....
2) you have to put it in M in order to use the e shift
3) the e shift controls the max gear the car will be in. so if you put it in 3 and you start from stop, the car will go from 1 to 2 and then 3
4) i think it does NOT have control on the 1st gear, meaning 1st to 2nd shift is by computer
5) if you put it in 2nd, and the car is in 2nd, it will continue to rev all the way to redline if you don't shift it into 3rd. and at redline it will bounce on limiter

im sorry but i dont quite get how the shifting works...
i looked it up on some forums and i still dont get it
i guess i have two main questions.
1.) when you say "put it in 3" what do you mean? how exactl y do you slide into M mode?
2.) i know that when im stopped and i am in M mode, that the car will automatically shift into second for me. but from second gear, can i completely control when the car shifts into third? and then fourth? can i simply shift when i want to?

thanks again for all the help. i really really appreciate it.

1) once you put it in m, on the dash it will show a number, that's the highest gear number you can be in. you use the bottons on the steering wheel to control what number (gear) you want
2) yes, you have control. like i said if you put it in 2 and not do anything, the car will stay in 2nd until you stop

What's up man! I picked up a 2004 SD IS300 manual tranny like a few weeks ago. I actually work at a Lexus Dealer, not a tech but work in the Service Dept.

Nice man. I'm definitely going for a manual. Just not sure what year.. I hear the 03's are sick. But I have no idea the differences between them all

Not much difference in the 03-05. It's just little cosmetic differences. It's going to be hard to find a manual that's clean and has lower miles. I got really lucky. Mine was one owner with 127k miles. Paid 7200 which is pretty fair, I'd say pretty good deal for the condition. Here's this thread they talk about differences between the years. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...fferences.html

What up fellas,I am a very hyped owner of a manual IS!!! I'm getting pretty close to swapping out for the GTE power plant!
Can you help me out on how to identify a W55 for a R154? This is my first manual IS build and I feel like the gears are long and tranny shifts like a truck lol which I've read the R154 feels that way... Crossing my fingers that the previous owner did me a huge favor by doing so ha!
