Oil Change FAQ/Tutorial
I haven’t attempted an oil change myself yet, actually, my Lex is sitting in a body shop, but besides that. Doesn’t this seem a little insane that you have to pry and work so hard just to get the filter off? Maybe I will just take it to Jiffy Lube or something after reading all this. I wanted to do them myself before, but now I am not sure.

Then I have enough room to get it out. I move the filter right, up, left and with a little luck....it should come out.

Ha ha...good one Irv. As I was typing that...that's exactly what I was thinking. You must be as old as me to remember that old school code.

I was able to remove the oil filter without loosening or unscrewing any factory parts. I do have a Teck Grounding Kit and a JIC Strut Tower bar and I had to loosen/remove those. With twisting ans turning you can get the filter out. One thing that did happen to me was when removing the filter (I had a plastic bag around it) the bag ripped and I let a few drops get into the engine bay.
I have never turned a wrench on a car or changed the oil in a car before getting my IS. Nothing like learning on a tight *** engine bay!
