The external metal oil feed lines coming from the oil pump area (of the timing chain cover) to the front side of the heads. One metal strainer at the end of each. It's in the "oil cooler" section on the EPCs, funnily enough.
Same for bank 2. I wouldn't bother. Now on to the question of why do the 3rd and 4th gen share an engine block if the oil feed to the heads goes through the block only on the 4th gen... timing gear cover is the same... heads are obviously different.
Anyways, again, I wouldn't bother taking out the crankshaft caps just for this... and I don't particularly dig the design, to be honest.
Yea that's going to be going deep to change that out. lol!
I would also worry if a seal or those gaskets, and/or something else there would need replacing after you remove then check tq specs to tighten back down, and everything else. Looks like a, if it ain't broke don't try to fix it!
