Default Problem after changing battery RX450h 2011

RX450 h I have a serious problem with the DC tp DC Unit on my Lexus all because I changed over the battery. I strongly recommend you DO N OT attempt to change the battery yourself. Mine has resulted in a potentially VERY expensive repair. I'm now looking for a DC to DC unit. Lexus are quoting over £3000 plus vat for the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated ie recon unit etc

Hi I swapped my battery over for a new one with disastrous results!!! The new one spiked the DC to DC unit and is now going to cost in excess of £4000 to replace. Has anybody else come across this with their RX450h

One would run into hosts of problems if the trac battery charge falls below the the minimum (exact voltage not known to me) and that can happen if the ICE does not run to charge it .. [Hybrid should not be allowed to run out of fuel]. Members have swapped out the 12v battery and even had non-functional 12v battery. If the hook up was swapped then you can run into further problems.

My understanding is that once the trac battery gets knocked out, the dealer (or a qualified tech) has to charge up the trac battery and then bring it in circuit.

It can be a case where the tech is not explaining the situation better or might be worth getting another tech take a look.

Which battery? You have two, 12V and hybrid, aka traction battery. Yes, I always caution to to have backup 12V source connected, when swapping 12V or disconnecting it, for whatever reasons. It's feeding a whole bunch of sensitive electronics, prone to not liking being without power. Yes, I am VERY WELL aware that some owners do this and had no issues yet, I am also well aware of some, that ended with $540 bill from dealer, to remove all the Christmas lights after 12V swap. Do you feel lucky, or do you?

Is the 12V battery being replaced or the Hybrid battery? Thanks
