Thats a thought, I brought it over to Meineke to do the 2 mid pipe sections for $250 instead of going for a used OEM midpipe or an aftrermarket stainless steel one.

Last resort is the dealer that can probably do in 1 hour book time but they want you to buy their factory o2 sensor for $250 LOL

How involved was exchanging the exhaust manifolds, besides reaching the header bolts on the extra flange, and the 2 rusted bolts on the front of the mid pipe?

For me 3 hrs each side. Had to get up from under the car and it is tight. Should save an hour each side of it is up on a.proper car hoist. Then U have the unknown (I had no trouble) like if U break a studs, nuts playing difficult to remove, etc. Exhaust shops do this all the time and are cheaper than the dealers. Source some Denso 02 sensors and have them fit the whole thing. Here in AU it (4 sensors) was gonna cost $1250aud for the set and then $2200 for the manifolds, Amazon cost $500aud for O2 and wreaker $500 for low KMs exhaust factory used manifolds including cats.

2-3 hours Thats alot of time! I was hoping to get away with $60-80 in Labor, and I have the replacement part.

We had it on a lift last week and tried to get it from the bottom up can barely see and reach it because space is so tight and my guy was afraid it might snap so they stopped. And also broke a u-joint in the process.

Its hard to get the right tool on it and the leverage with an extension because of the suspension in the way. Maybe the correct way is to take the exhaust manifold off, and the 2 bolts connecting to the mid pipe look rusty as hell and prob snap.

Imma try another shop tomorrow.

I got it done at meineke, and they charged me 1.5 hours at $100/hr shop rate for the labor,plus shop supplies and taxes about $171 out the door,
and they used my part that I bought online for $20.

Im still getting the low efficiency cat code. Perhaps it is being fouled because of carbon and sulfur because I drive 95% of city driving and the cats dont get hot enough because it starts and stops all the time. I might try the Cataclean or Seafoam next month and see what happens.

Just a thought, since I'm getting both p0420/p0430s from time to time... but I have an exhaust leak that I have to handle first:

When looking for exhaust manifolds, many aftermarket ones (including magnaflow with a cat fitted) are marked as compatible with both the IS250, IS350 and GS350. The 450h just so happens to be using a GR engine as well, so...
Again, just a thought at this point. Still trying to locate if anybody has actually fitted a manifold from another RWD GR-equipped vehicle.

If they're compatible, then... way more parts to pick. I don't know if the cats are the same, though. The manifold gaskets are definitely the same - ******* parts reference confirms this.

Yes the gaskets are the same but I checked the part numbers and they are different. The cats may or may not be the same and the tubing might be different. Because there is more stuff in the way because of the hoses and such for the hybrid that the regular gas engine doesnt have in the way.

I'm in that dilemma now with 229k pronto the car is worn out. And I might look for a lower milega replacement. But I'm gonna change the downstream o2 sensor first just to make sure it's not giving a bad signal to trip the code.

Part numbers don't match between the is250 and 350 either, even though aftermarket headers/manifolds seem to be compatible for both. Might have something to do with environmental regulations - might even be that the cats themselves are the same, just some regulatory BS preventing the parts from being the same. At any rate, something to keep in mind.

I found the cats for the IS250 also. I have a gs450h with the cats destroyed. One is melted and the other one is clogged. I understand that the cats for the is250 might have a different ceramic cartridge even if the two have the same dimmensions and geometry. I spoke with a couple of companies that do exhausts on a regular basis and two of them told me not to try to mount is250 catalisers on my gs450h. They also told me that i should better buy aftermarker catalisers such as this

This means that the shop has to cut out my old cat and weld in the new cat. Hope it works.

It's your call. All I've read so far points to aftermarket cats not being worth the time.
