Default Anyone else have rattle when accelerating?

Not sure if this has anything to do with any of my other problems. I have had this issue for months if not a year or more. I've had my mechanic with me and i can't reproduce it on demand. Of course 5mins after he exits the car i get it again!
Anyways, on acceleration(not hard) or going up a hill( not a huge one) i hear what i can best describe as a rattle .To me it seems to be the tranny. I could hear something similar in my mother's Dodge Aspen(which i would run the crap out of) many, many years ago.I know my 400h tranny is completely different but that's what i am reminded of.As you know, it's hard to rev these cars in P and so i don't hear it unless i'm moving.

How about an exhaust sheild loose and making noise? My 2008 400H is as quiet as it was when we first bought it.

This is a common issue among brands of vehicles. I would bet it's that and nothing to do with the transmission.

Thumbs up

I agree but i've had more than my share of heat shield issues over the years and would bet (some ) money that this isn't one . From my experience heat shield rattles occurred at a certain rpm. I don't experience this . I do have to go under the Rx to work out another issue and i will check the shield.
Thanks all

Nothing can rattle in PSD. That's your trannie. Literally, nothing. Look elsewhere for noise cause. Rattles can be caused by many things in large metal box called car.

Does is sound similar to spark knock, but it goes away under heavier acceleration? Same issue here!
