This would be awesome. I sometimes run to the corner stores and it annoys me that the engine kicks in for these short trips when I have plenty of battery.

I'm going to be revisiting this when the weather is a little nicer. Did you try driving with ECON grounded?

I did. Unfortunately no difference in the reactions to my throttle input.

I had my ICE engine failed last year. only the electric motor ran (with check hybrid system warning ) the vehicle could only accelerate to 22mpg at a very slow pace. Too slow for regular driving. THe Traction battery also dropped rapidly. I would estimate I could not get more than a few blocks distance. I can concede that my system may have restricted acceleration in limp mode, however I am convinced that it can not do any real distance in EV.

Good luck on your experimentation and let us know.

The point of the EV button, or even hybrid cars in general, never was to drive as far as possible in electric mode. I would use it only for not having to fire up the engine when for example taking my car out of the garage.

not entirely sure what I am looking at, besides an electronics diagram of course It seems to be missing some things on the HV ECU that the rx400h has (tach for example).

using the info in that PDF, I was able to label as many connectors as possible. Some are still blank as they were not in the diagram. Hopefully this is of use to someone, perhaps just searching the terms in google many years in the future! If I discover the missing info I will edit this post.

MPMP:
ILK: To inter lock switch
CON1: To system main relay 1
CON2: To system main relay 2
CON3: To system main relay 3
VPMP:
SI0: To battery blower motor RH
SI1: To battery blower motor LH
SI2: To battery blower motor Center

BS2: Circuit closed when triggered by skid control ECU, also triggers brake actuator circuit
PTNK:
BS1G: To circuit breaker sensor rear RH
CANL: To junction connector / junction connector
EOM: To junction connector
BTH-: To battery voltage sensor
BL: To BK/UP LP relay
BS2G: To circuit breaker sensor rear LH

H29 Connector:

LST1:
LST2:
PMET: To combination meter
