Are you asking about the 12v battery in the rear hatch area?
Reason I ask is that technically that battery runs the electronics and needs to be in good enough state to run the ecu. The ecu then signals the mg1, to spin the engine [start]. We no longer have a starter.
Please see the ongoing discussions on the 12v battery. Theoretically any auto 12v battery can be used, but there are some concerns about how to drain the fumes and should the battery be deep-cycle or not.
