What should I know before buying a 400h?
Advice about buying an ‘07 RX400h/450h vs RX330/350Hi, I’m considering what looks to be a pretty good deal on an ‘07 400h with 100,000 miles. I was wondering if anyone could help educate me on known problems or give me opinions/advice on the subject. At that age would I be better off with a 330/350 or is the 400 holding up well? What should I know before I buy? I don’t want to bring it home just to find out it needs another $X,XXX in repairs. Would I be better off spending a little more on an ‘06 or ‘08? For what it’s worth I’m in Los Angeles and Savin on gas in traffic would be really nice. I appreciate any advice on the subject.
Someone suggested I check here for more info on the hybrid engine specifically.

The hybrids are great in stop-and-slow traffic.
Drive one to be sure you can tolerate the snomobile-like (or boat-like) transmission - which takes some getting used to; but we all ultimately appreciate.
Jackrabbit starts are the non-Hybrid forte; but they cannot match the roll-on performance of the hybrids.
You will see 30% (or more) fuel economy in the Hybrid vs the non.
Brake pads last 2~5 times longer in the Hybrid.
Infotainment is second to none.
Reliability has been great for all RX.
PREMIUM fuel is prescribed; however I’ll bet a majority don’t use it (I’d be looking for one in which the previous owner followed directions).
A/C and Steering are Electric, which means that when you’re gridlocked on your freeways, the engine doesn’t keep heating, while your car keeps cooling.
The only thing I don’t like about owning my 2013 RXh is wondering if I can afford whatever is to replace it that is at least as great.
Please post your ultimate choice/comments,

Jon, you need to post your commute parameters. Hybrids are pretty much waste of money for short trips and for all around city driving. Or, being heavy loaded. You pay premium, drive under Damocles sward of very expensive hypothetical repairs and have no benefit from better mpg in such conditions.
