Thank you for letting me part of the Lexus hybrid community for the past three years, however I sold my GS 450 H, and decided to get rid of ICE altogether, and go completely electric.
This is a great forum, and it helped me a lot figuring out my Lexus hybrid technology… Now I’ve got a whole new can of worms to figure out with this Tesla S 60. Wish me luck and thanks again. |

Best of both worlds would be if toyota bought tesla; lexus build quality and engineering with tesla speed and high tech

Good to see yours post again MSAGRO! Congrats on the new purchase. I'm glad that it suits your needs.
Just remember the GS450h is larger, has a engine that is nearly the double in liters displacement and produces 3x the HP, weights nearly 1K more, and can do 0-60 in nearly half the time... so getting 32-33 mpg isn't so bad ;) Do you miss the Tesla? I would imagine it would be difficult to go from a Tesla Model S to a Prius. All the best my friend, ~ Im2bz2p345 :) |
Hello ImBZ. glad to hear from you too. Funny you mention the 0 to 60 time in the GS450H. Once you go to the Tesla those figures just don’t do anything to you anymore. My Tesla went 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. can’t remember how many times I “goosed” the accelerator in the Model S during ownership. It’s unlike anything else with clean torque pressing you back in your seat. Strange thing though, when the Tesla went out of warranty I felt that I was driving a Faberge egg. . Those pesky doorhandles cost $950 to replace, the big TFT screen is $6000 if any bit of that flat panel decide to go blank. Minor door ding in an aluminum car like that is close to $1000 to repair, plus my insurance was $1800 a year and I have perfect driving record. Plus if you have any of the above problems you have to wait three months for parts to come in. The final straw on the reason why I had to sell the Tesla was I parked between two cars and literally waited 10 minutes until one of the cars left so that I can have a little more room to make sure that one of those cars was not going to create a door ding… That’s no way to drive a car. The adage is true though… Once you go electric you can’t go back. And I knew that I was going to step down on my next vehicle once I sold the Tesla. But the most logical choice that matched my driving needs was this Prius Prime Advanced . All the high-tech, gas mileage,reliability and yes,sporty looks (in a Prius??) I have no regrets. I think the GS is perfect for me but of course, the amount of money I spend on gas is way too much. :cry: I'm sure eventually we will all transition over to electric vehicles but not sure of the time frame. |

The Prime “feels” faster than those figures indicate. But that’s just the torque illusion that pure electric does. The 20 to 60 mph range, like when freeway merging, it’s quite satisfactory. It’s powerful enough for me. I also on a 2015 Lexus 300 H that I had service last week, and I asked if Lexus is ever going to go electric anytime soon or even have a plug-in hybrid like the Prime. hey said that in the works for 2020 is a Lexus hybrid to replace a CT 200 H under the model name of “VX“, in the style of the Toyota C-HR... he said maybe there will be a plug-in version of that. in the meantime I’m happy with my Prius Prime, , and I’m getting a lot of compliments on it whenever I take it out… Surprising for a Prius indeed. |

Thanks for that response and the insight that you shared on your Model S ownership experience MSAGRO! If I ever take the plunge to go all-electric, I'm definitely going to PM you to ask your opinion, especially since I'm sure the Tesla Model S will be on my shortlist.
That cherry red type of color on your Prius really makes the car pop. Hey, if it's working out well for you and satisfies things you want/need in a vehicle, then who cares. lol. I hope you enjoy the new vehicle. Definitely stop by every now and then to give us updates! You mentioned that you also own a 300h and that's a wonderful car as well. I remember back when I was looking, I debated going the ESh route vs the GSh route - both are wonderful vehicles for different markets/audiences. Despite the rumors, I really hope Lexus does not decide to kill the GS line anytime soon! ~ Im2bz2p345 :) |

It an interesting story you can Google. my ES 300 H is actually my live-in girlfriend‘s car, when I bought my GS it had the blind spot monitor and she basically said “I want one of those “, and then purchased this for her..... and gets about 40 miles to the gallon and about a 500 mile range. If you ever get a chance at a Toyota dealership look at the hypersonic read in the sunlight it actually looks kind of vivid orange when the angle is just right… It’s actually kind of cool looking. |

Gas mileage in the winter on the Prius would probably a miserable 50 miles per gallon or so. |
