Smile New Lexus Owner Some Questions

Hi All,

Well I bought an R-Titled 2006 Lexus RX400H. Was $7500.00 with 120k miles on it. Very well maintained, have all the service records.
Was R-titled due to a suspension issue sliding on ice. It was repaired though and I had a mechanic check everything before I bought it.

So far so good, I have quite a drive into work every day so figured why not give this a try.
Was driving a 2004 Nissan Xterra with 205k miles on it.

Do most of you use premium gas in your vehicles?
How often do you update the Nav system GPS maps? I was just using a Garmin or my iPhone so no big deal really.
The lights are out on my shifter so all the letters P,R,N...etc are out.
Is that something easy enough to do yourself or have mechanic/dealer do it?

So far very nice car and much better acceleration than the Xterra.

Thanks!
Matt

Never have. Latest update is a few years old already so not really worth it.

Should be easy to do. Remove the shift lever (twists off), pop off the wood trim (piece that says PRND on it) and replace bulb. If you look up installing a USB audio interface in ours cars (or RX330/350) you'll find picture tutorials that show how to remove the shifter assembly.
Good luck with the new RXh!

I have owned my 2008 since 2010 and have only used premium gas in it. Reading this forum many don't seem to hold that same idea and use regular grade. I live in a hilly area, and over the past 4,000 miles of driving we are averaging 27.5 mpg. What I would get using the reg grade I don't know, but we are pleased with the average we are getting and choose not to switch gas. Our GPS is the same as it was built with and have not upgraded. We also use our phone if needed, but do use the GPS built in the car most often. Seems to get us to almost every place without issue.
The bulb must be burnt out and from looking on line it appears to be a fairly easy fix. Best of luck with your new to you vehicle.
