Great question! I don't know for sure. When I was looking, we only looked for models that had the tow package & never discussed adding it thru the dealer. Based on my experience so far, I would not trust them to do it correctly. Sales was great, service, not so much.

Towing without tow prep
The 2018 certified RX450HL that I was considering did not have the tow prep package. My Lexus salesman told me that wouldn’t be a problem and it could still tow 3500lbs. As I was reading the owners manual, it states that towing is not recommended without the tow prep package. If I install a hitch, will I void the warranty? I will be towing 2000-2500lbs. I bought an extended warranty totaling 7 years including the certified warranty. I plan on going to the dealer tomorrow and get clarification from the maintenance department but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this issue. Thanks.

2020RX450H, noticed you have a 7pin wiring harness for you trailer hitch. I just bought a RX450h (base/premium) recently and need to wire in the 7 pin connector. Can you give me any advice on how you did it? Seems information on this is hard to come by. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the tow prep package and port receiver with 4 pin connector from dealer. Plan on using the Hopkins 47200 connector and the Redarc Tow-pro elite break controller. Any information on wiring attachment points (Brake/12v feed/ Stop and Backup light) would be greatly appreciated. Hope you are enjoying your new f sport, love the ride and handling on mine.
