U can still buy new ones from lexus
Sorry to revive old thread. Thanks for the tutorial and the blog. It helps allot. Question for you. Have you or anyone found a new and better battery option? Like I’d hate to keep on pulling out and replacing battery blocks every 3-6 months. Like has anyone ever retrofitted a Tesla pack into these Toyota H packs?
I think that 2k for another 15 years of trouble free driving is great.
Alot of people complained about the batterys not lasting lol how is Ur 16 yr old mobile phone or battery drill going .

hi there .I still enjoying this great gs450h.so many advantages has comparing to new cars that i cant give up.fast quite inside cabin amazing sound system ML great engine fun to drive .only dissadvantage cargo space in trunk....but who cares.well reason for this new reply will be using lipo charger balancer to get all hybrid battery cells up with voltage and capacity.it will be long time to complete this task but considering prices of gasoline today it will be worth to give shot.
will keep you updated
ps i did this on my ES300h and it was working .now is turn for GS450h to see how works.
cheers

in order to avoid confusion here is confirmation in my case on my gs450h
driver side passenger side
block 20 block 01
(negative) (positive) front
(positive) (negative ) back facing cabin and seat backrest
when you locking from back trunk area and terminals closest to front batttery (where is orange switch side front of battery)
reason for this was that at back of battery negative teminal was connected on passanger side and should be block 01.

update on block 01 and block 20
here is bad block
Here is cell 19 actually block 19. I have marked down numbers of blocks for easy diagnostic later on. So in my case block 20 is first from driver side and block one is first from passenger side if you looking from back of car. In other cases could be oder order around.
Here was big problem .never use battery gun to increase speed of rebuilding batteries .durring basbur removal one of washers was Cris threaded and we got problem. In case of this problem u can't solve it with making new thread ,will not work in our case .so I had to replace that cell too ,even if cell was ok I had no choice.
After procedure of replacing bad cells with new used one was done we used some tape to keep all busbars covers attached to battery .
The rest of used donor cells we have recharged and put in box for the future ,just in case if we need to replace another cell. Now we will see how many miles we can do per one tank.
Here is one more confirmation that block 19 was bad. So do not let dealer or some untrasty mechanic pull wool over your eyes, with some lame explanation about Hybrid Codes. Really only thing you do is replace bad cell and keep driving.

Hi Lexusigs
Is your car still going strong ? what is your milage/km ?
how many cells in total did you replace ?
I stripped my battery pack 3 times and replaced 28 in total already

Update on my 07 GS45h I hit a deer 2 years ago at 263k miles and insurance company totalled the car even tho it was very driveable. Original traction battery, maybe 2 or 3 cells low. Only fixes I did to car was rear right brake caliper as the design is bad and therefore many caliper pins get frozen. Also I had to replace mid H exhaust pipe because of pin hole rust corrosion.
Then I got a 2013 GS450h, had it for 5 months and was rear ended and the insurance company totalled the car.
Now I downgraded to 13' ES300h. Have 225k on it now with original battery. Good on gas but weak brakes and weak power, more space in back seat but GS has better materials and build quality.

i have to say gs 450h 2008 is one of the best and fastes lexuses i had .It was great car but i sold it to friend of mine and he is enjoying now about 700 000 km on it.Yes es 300h 2013 is more reliable but its only 4 cylinder engine ,still fast in sport mode with mod of 2017 hybrid battery cekls from gs model.Biggest advantage es model over gs is that es has 4 times bigger cargo space than es and has more legroom on the back and headroom but gs has better engine 6 cylinder almost 400 horses.Anyway I still like both of them.

I must replace some modules to prevent P0A80 from coming back. Someone told me that a difference of 0.5v is enough to cause P0A80 and someone else told me that 1v difference is what causes it. Which is true?

You can keep driving it forever with the code on.
Depending on how many cells you want to change, remember the others ones will be older and have higher mileage on them and can deteriorate more at any time in the future.
