My quest for a loaded 2016 RX460h
I drove 200 miles round trip today just to test drive a '16 RX450h. I REALLY LIKED IT. Unfortunatly it was not well equipped.
My wife feels our 2015 seats are more comfortable. I may be pre ordering a 2017 RXh if I can convince my wife to give up our 2015.
After driving the basic RXh I then drove a loaded RX350 to experience the options. I did not like the transmission at all. As i pulled up to a red light that changed to green, when I hit the gas it hunted for the correct gear and jerked noticeably. Maybe I'm spoiled by my hybrid and Nissan Leaf. With these cars, whenever you hit the accelerator there is immediate and smooth proportional response.
When I searched cars.com for a RX450h with Mark Levinson radio, LSS+ and Luxury package I couldn't find one in either White, Gray or Red.
Seat comfort:
I found the standard seat not as comfortable as our 2015 Premium seats.
The Rx350 I drove had Luxury interior, LSS+. It seemed much more comfortable to me.
At my age I'm not a big fan of the seats in the F-Sport with extra bolsters. Our CT had similar side bolsters and after 2 years the leather was worn on the drivers left bolster from getting in and out of the car. Lexus had to replace the seat back due to the premature wear.

Rx350 has an entirely different transmission than the 450h. Rx450h has a cvt transmission which provided unlimited torque immediately. Rx350 either has. 6 speed or 8 speed automatic. There is a HUGE difference in the way they drive.
My wife owns a 15 rx350... I drive a 16 rx350 as a demo. I like the comfort of the 16 better. Guess everyone has their own feelings.
I hope it all goes your way. The 12.1" screen is AWESOME too

No, I don't play soccer!
I knew you'd like it Go ahead and order a '17. That'll give you a few months to convince the wife. As a former 3RXh owner, the 4RXh is a pleasant improvement. And should I mention how much better the mileage is OK I know we don't buy them only for that. But it's one of many things I enjoy about my 450h. There's so many!

A dealer about 100 miles from us JUST got a 2016 RX450h (Manufacture Date 6/16).
Nebula Gray Pearl
Stratus Gray Semi Aniline Leather with Gray Sapele
The only thing missing from my Wish List is Mark Levinson Radio
It has:
• LUXURY PACKAGE
• LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM PLUS W/BI-LED HEADLAMPS & AFS
• 12.3” Nav Screen without Mark Levinson
• COLOR HEADS-UP DISPLAY
• PANORAMIC VIEW MONITOR W/BLIND SPOT MONITOR
• TOUCH-FREE POWER REAR DOOR
• 3500 LBS TOW PREP PACKAGE
• PANORAMIC MOONROOF
BEFORE ANY NEGOTIATION ATTEMPT
$60,995 MSRP
-$3,473 DEALER DISCOUNT VIA INTERNET OFFER
-$38,000 TRADE IN OFFER ON MY 2015 RX450H (BEFORE THEY EVEN SAW IT)
AFTER TAXES, TAG TITLE AND FEES $21,866 OUT THE DOOR.
THIS IS A HARD NUMBER TO SWALLOW. My 2015 is FWD. The original MSRP was $56,000 and sold for $51,000. $13,000 depreciation in a year would hurt.

I'd say order and get exactly what you want. Only issue with that you'll lose your negotiation card by special ordering. And your '15 RXh will only depreciate more as the months roll by.

Hmm, get a '16 now not in white and missing ML or wait a few months for the '17 with everything you want. I agree with yardie to go with the latter. But it doesn't mean the negotiation card is lost. There are some dealers willing to discount special orders. Mine did, twice. Ask them if they'll do the same percentage on a '17. All they can say is no.

Thank you Anita, yardie876 and Jerry for your advice.
Of course you are right recommending that I wait and order what I want rather than settle for something close.
The dealership I visited yesterday said they expect they would be able to preorder mid July which is only 2 weeks from now. He said the best guess is the special orders would be delivered sometime in October.

I would and did definitely wait to get the exact colors and options I wanted. For a car this expensive, you should have everything to your choosing.
The ML was worth it btw, coming from a non-ML car. Also the F Sport seats are not as soft/plush as the 3RX, but the trade-off was on looks and adaptive suspension. I just did a 12 hour drive (road trip) over two days and I found the 4RX F Sport seats to be more than adequate. I just hope the bolsters don't wear down like your CT.
