Default RX 400h - All Ingnition Coil Code P 0351- P0356

I have a 2008 RX 400 H that shut down completely: towed home. Code came back that Ignition coils at fault; P0351 - P 0356 . car won't start. I pretty sure not all coils failed; is there a way to identify if it is a specific coil - or something else that controls the coils? Thanks in advance! mike

Is the engine cranking or not doing anything at all? Does the dash say Ready? Do you have 12 volts at the 12 volt battery? I believe the ignition system is a legacy system that runs on the 12 volt system.

Engine tries to crank - a small chug to turn over engine, then the faults kick in: VSC, check hybrid system, etc... then nothing . I replaced the front three coils (easy to reach) given the computer codes - still same scenario. battery charged at 12 volts - but I hear that the battery could be the likely culprit. Tried jumping - no luck,

Default Solved

Ran the computer again - all 6 coils were faulted again - P0353 was the first to appear, followed by P0351, P0352, etc. It was the coil for Cylinder 3 (P0353). Unfortunately, in the rear center against the firewall. Took to Toyota and got soaked for $600.

I had something similar happen on a Ford I was fixing. 2 coils were bad and the ECU was throwing all sorts of codes. It was trial and error to find the bad ones. Glad you got it fixed. Good to know what caused it for the rest of us.

Last time I had this problem I used a VOM to measure resistance of each coil, found one quite high, replaced it, and problem fixed.
