2014 ES300h or ES350 - Does it play DVD-A discs?

I've seen some older posts about this and having to start playing the DVD-A discs while parked.

Do the new 2014's handle DVD-A or DVD Audio?

Thanks!

I haven't tried one, but I did finally figure out what the deal was with the whole "parked" thing - you must have it in Park with the Parking Brake applied before it will play the video portion of a regular DVD. Otherwise it just plays the audio of regular DVDs.

I really doubt that anything has changed in the ML audio system to remove the capability. Just in case you missed it in the other threads - If you just load and play, it plays the DD layer. While the parking brake is applied, you need to navigate to the audio section and choose the preferred format. Just to note, not all disc's will allow this. It's hit or miss.

This evening I stopped by the Lexus dealer and tried a DVD-a in a 2014 ES350 with a Mark Levinson sound system. All worked great. Just had car in park with no brake applied.

I put the car in reverse and as I backed up the DVD-a continued to play. I put the car in Drive and the DVD-a continued to play.

You were listening to the Dolby Digital layer, though. Just the same as if you put in a DVD movie.

Correct. At least the DVD-a will play.
