Red face cel just came on

07 rx400h, 150,000 km (almost 94k miles). car is full serviced (major and minor) up to date, including timing belt water pump all fluids etc etc as recommended in the service manual. IPM recall performed.

ive been noticing more exhuast fumes upon start up (i figured its due to a VERY cold winter) this past week, and i was wondering if this would some way mean there is an underlying problem, and today the CEL came on.

at first thoughts im guessing it could be 02 sensor, perhaps the spark plugs need changing (25k miles early), loose gas cap (checking this now).

any other rx hybrid owners with approx milage have their CEL come on?? if so what were the fixes? im trying to get an idea of what it may be before i take it into the garage tomorrow and get the codes read.

thanks in advance !

Multiple spark plug misfires.... Getting them replaced 25,000 miles before it's recommended service interval.

Not a huge problem! Will get an alignment while I'm at it, some potholes haven't been too friendly in the past year!

Most likely it is a bad coil. The code should tell you which one.

^^^ thank you guys for the help. will get the car back tomorrow with final definitive update (and fix).

some wear and tear service intervals i think are a little too crazy, 192,000 km on spark plugs sounds a little too optimistic to me. on a similar note, the tranny fluid on my c2s is rated for 12 years/180,000 km which i think is pretty insane as well.

I hope you put NGK or Denso iridium plugs in....And yes they will go an easy 125 k miles....Coil packs are the usual failure. Never put Bosch in for plugs you will regret it.
