Seems like a good sign. Is the consensus on the issue that inverter failure can be avoided by replacing the pump and coolant occasionally? We own a Prius, and that consensus seems to have evolved. We know someone whose Prius inverter failed last year ($8000), and I plan on replacing the pump before next summer.

Interesting, I am the only one that I remember that has had the pump fail. It failed at a little over 100k miles on my 2008RX400h. I now plan to change it at 90k miles. It is a simple little pump located on the subframe to the left of the radiator infront of the inverter. Three bolts and electrical connector and two hoses. There probably is no concensus, as I recall only my failure.

Not that I know of. However it is easy to get to, and three bolts and a couple hose clamps and you are done. Of course addition of coolant will be necessary.

Sorry to be ignorant, but what pump? I just purchased an '06 RX400h a few weeks ago, and want to keep it running well at minimal expense and/or breakdown, so all edification appreciated!

There are two cooling systems in the Hybrid, one for the engine (ICE, gas engine) and one for the Inverter. THe gas engine has a normal waterpump since it is a 3.3 liter v-6 engine. The inverter has a electric water pump located on the subframe on the drivers side behind and left of the radiator. I am the only one that I have seen on this site that had that electric pump fail....
