Can anyone help me out with the Gs450h ,and there reliability? I sold my 460 ,and am looking for its replacement... I've never owned a Hybrid so I'm not sure what to expect, there is a 07 for sale that's about 200 miles away that has peeked my interest.... Are there any known problems with the 450h that I should know about? Just looking for owners impressions on the car whether good or bad.

Well I would make sure the battery is tested that's really the only worry people have. The hybrid battery and system is pretty bullet proof, some have had some problems which were covered under the 8 year warranty which would still be intact until 2014. If not at a Lexus dealership I would have the dealership check it, also low miles are not really good for a hybrid. How many miles are on it got any pics of it.

The one I want to look at is in Erie, Pa and it has 78k on the odometer, The Battery is now scaring me away ... I don't want to buy a car, then a year later have to buy a hybrid battery that I'm sure costs a small fortune. I may have to look at 460s instead.

I really wouldn't fear the battery pack.... The need to replace is very very isolated.

Yeah, i would not worry about the battery, they are virtually bulletproof. only read about a replacement once. drive one first, then consider if you still want it or not.

There is no doubt about me wanting it, unless it drives like my car from High School I'm sold, I gave up other auto brands long ago

Yeah I was trying to say the battery pack is pretty bulletproof, I just said to get it checked for your own piece of mind. This is what scares people away that's the reason Lexus extended the battery warranty an extra year. You really should be fine especially at 78K you should check the water pump since they failed early mine failed at 70K but was covered under warranty. Also the battery is about $5,022 not that bad but usually Lexus will help with that.

I wouldn't buy it.
It's not only the battery.There's also the battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter that are covered for 8 years/100,000.

They are pretty low! this is why it isn't really a worry, when I had my hybrid the service tech said they have never had one come in for a battery problem or inverter. He said the RX has a little more problems than the GS its rare.

Pretty much my point. Some people have a very alarmist attitude towards hybrids.

Only reason why I am somewhat alarmed is because the Hybrid Technology is still fairly new, There isn't much data out there on how long these batteries last, and since I might have the worst luck when it comes to life I'm weighing my options

I owned a Camry Hybrid.
I just wouldn't buy any hybrid that close to the 8 year warranty coverage limit.

You are exhibiting personal preference, which is of course fine.

The 450h is my fifth hybrid.

I've had two Priuses, a Camry Hybrid, and an HS250h.

I don't fear the Hybrid power system at all. There isn't any data out there to suggest that they are ticking time bombs.
