Aftermarket 12V batteries
I've already posted on a different thread about the cost ($600+ installed) of the OEM 12V battery. Been there, done that, and my battery is doing great right now. But the next time I need a new battery I'm going aftermarket. What works and what's the cost? Better to know now than when I'm broken down with no option but a tow to the dealer!
BTW, love my GS450h : the battery is all I've ever replaced in 6.5 years of driving!

I'm also interested in the after market battery. This was my only hesitation about the hybrid models. I have an 07 w 60k mi. Just trying to do some proactive research.

When my car got shipped the stock battery died on my way home, tried to jump start it thinking it was just discharged but wouldn't start back . So I bought a Varta Blue dynamic E23 70Ah for 130€ [$170] with a 6 months warranty.
Haven't had problem since ,it's just that you have to cut some plastic tabs with a Dremel to put back the holding bracket.

Well after doing some battery searching i went with the optima yellow top D35. the dimensions are perfect for the compartment and no starting or hybrid issues so far. i did get a "check hybrid system" message for about 30-40 miles but it eventually cleared itself without taking it to the dealer. I purchased it at Advance auto parts and it was in stock. Hope this helps...

I bought the same Varta Blue dynamic E23 70Ah for 89€. Will try out today and let you know. It also came with sweet 2year warranty
EDIT: Now installed and everything working nice, also had to cut some plastic to make it fit.

For anyone reading this in the future, Optima YellowTop D35 was swapped for the OEM in my 2011 GS450H and seems to be working fine so far. It's only been two days, but I'm driving constantly due to Uber Eats, errands, visiting people, etc. and have had zero issues so far. In fact, startup seems to have improved. Will try to update if changes for the worse in the long run. Installation went fine. The battery itself is shorter in height than OEM, but it comes with a spacer that makes it perfectly compatible and snug with the original tray and bracket. Only other thing is the lack of a vent tube (which isn't needed anyway), and having to remove the temperature sensor from previous battery, which is easy to do (literally peel it off old battery, and tape it onto new). I got it from Autozone for same day pickup at $289.
