2010 RX450h Calipers.

2007 GS450h Pads (Pay close attention to the "low dust" option) or OEM dusty pads.

That is what Rominl is referring to about your correlation to pad life vs dust.

I would buy the hybrid to get a closer parking space at Whole Foods.

so you are trying to tell me you emphasized on something that's completely off base and have nothing to do with the topic here regarding hybrid? if so yes, i think you are right on.

i hope you do realize you can get a different set of lexus oem pads (per tsib) for your is350 and you will see no dust on that car as well (you really don't wash your rxh for a year?!). yes, that's been proven on 3gs and 2is over and over, including my car. and no, don't expect that to be because your tranny suddenly starts stopping the car for you.

your post was clearly trying to say the rxh put less wear on your brakes because you see no dust, whereas you see tons of dust on your is350. they have zero correlation between each other as shown by what i said above, because it mostly depends on the brake size, power, pressure, pad compound, etc...

I'll update this thread when my pads/calipers need replacement, but that could be difficult since I don''t generally keep cars past 80K km.
How about a depreciated LFA vs new 2014 GT3?

To OP
I apologize for stealing bits of your thread. I would highly recommend the GSh as well. I test drove one and completely in love with it. I would buy it tomorrow if it come in AWD (even if the kind of fake AWD setup as in RXh). Now that's "have your cake and eat it too"

GS450h is neat

But for me (personal case), I'd still pick:

GS350 >>> GS450h

Just my opinion

P.S.
When will the 4th generation GS get a V8 engine (non-hybrid)? I'm eager to wait for something like a GS460 or a GS500...........or a GS-F (with at least 500 hp)

A theoretical 4GS V8 has about 100 kg/225 pounds extra weight on the nose?
A 4GS hybrid has about 200 kg/450 pounds extra weight on the tail?
Both accelerate like a rocket, especially the lighter V8?
The hybrid may have more bottom end punch than the V8?

Speed of change in direction, and lateral acceleration on skidpan-wise, the GS350 V6 tops the lot, by a huge margin!
The V8 with the 100kg/225lbs heavier nose may come second?
While the 200kg/450lbs hybrid with the heavy tail may be the best cruiser.
A GS450h hybrid is great, provided we never expect it to handle like a GS350 V6. Never.
Weight is the bane of motoring.

Can't wait till 5GS hybrid comes out with lithium ion batteries!
Hopefully the additional weight penalty will be reduced to only 100 kg/225 lbs?
Furthermore, lithium ion would be much more compact inside, for less boot space loss.
They just have to tame the li-ion to reduce the possibility of explosion.

As someone else suggested, why not make a de-facto psuedo AWD hybrid by placing the electric motors on the 5GS hybrid front wheels?
I guess the electric motors may have too much torque for the front wheels.
This concept does work better for the RX hybrid because it is already front wheel drive in the first place, and placing two electric motors in the rear makes for a great pseudo-4WD...

I spoke with my insurance agent and she said that the 450H versus 350 will save me $45-50 a year in San Diego. Just more info for those that are interested. It's not much but something, like half a tank of gas.

Pseudo AWD does not work very well. There is alot of Youtube published comparisons to verify this. RX has lost i slippery slopes against audi, BMW and Volvo.

Interesting. My agent told me that if I had a GS460, or GS350 it would be $144 less per 6 months.
He said the reasoning is how much the major parts cost and that they would most likely total out the entire car.

My fully loaded RXh costs almost $100 less per year to insure compares to a base 5sp Vibe of the same year (my previous beater).

That's great...

Makes sense since they built more of the RXh/Highlander Hybrid than they did GS450h's
More parts, cross platform availability = Cheaper Insurance.
and again... Has nothing to do with a GS450h.

That's comforting.

Oh, and if we're waiting on 5GS...that's likely 7-8 years away...assuming the 4GS can sell well enough to continue the model. We were thisclose to not seeing the 4GS.
