Is my hybrid battery going to die?
Every morning when I start the car in the morning is always start with egine, even if the battery is fully charge when it shut off in the evining day before. Is this normal? Also I heard most of the car will run under battery power under 25-30 mph. But my engine will always kick in when speed in 15 mph. But my car still keep the gas mileage around 22.5-25mpg. With 30% local. All rest are fwy. Please help. I am not sure if the battery needs replace soon? Car is currently out of warranty.

All cars start up on engine power, for the most part anyways. I think it's to warm up the oil, and when it's warm the engine shuts off again. At least that's how it was every morning when I started up the CT200h loaner (yes, I take care of my loaners like it's my own )

You never know, if 1-2 bars is reduced, that's either quite a bit of a power draw or the battery is slowly draining due to it being on the verge of it's death.

i took my GSh on a long mountain road drive, so i let the car roll back down hill, 5+ miles, all down hill, battery won't fully charge, never use the acceleration at all, just put car in D and let it roll, one bar from fully charge, i think my battery is dying soon

Try it again but on the down hill coast put it in Power mode, or down shifted into 4 or 3, or with a very light pressure on the brake... All of those will force the ECU to charge the battery.
On fathers day my son and I coasted down a very long highway from almost 5,000ft to just over sea level, and it left one bar on the table... On the return trip, I cover the brake, and had the batter fully full less than half way down... Thought to myself.. Now what?

I just try and keep the needle as far down as it can be in the blue section when going down hills, if it starts to fade back, let off a bit and try again, I can fully charge my battery from 2-3 bars to full or one bar from full in around 30sec to a minute. Helps if the car is in power mode.
(my GSh is a 2007 and 128 000 km, so it has pretty high mileage)

no idea if it is safe or not, but at least we know that your battery is A-OK.
If "engine braking" your transmission causes you concern... Only do it once a year or so to test your battery.
