Default Should I buy a GS450h?

I have the opportunity to buy a 2010 GS450h off lease for about $30k. The car has all options and only 19k miles. I know the price is good, but how is the daily performance? I have been driving AMG Mercedes vehicles the last couple of years and this is my first venture in any hybrid and lexus in general. Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome. I've drive AMG vehicles and own a modified GS 450h. In regards to acceleration it depends on the AMG model. The car is clearly slower than say a E55/E63 but not that much slower if any than older models. This is a low to mid 5 second car with a high 13/low 14 1/4 mile time. Passing power is on par/better than V-8s in its day from the instant torque from the batteries.

The GS steering feels light and uncommunicative at times and the wood wheel helps in this matter. Sometimes though it feels perfect. The electric assist can vary. The brakes don't deliver the best feel but they stop the car short and the big 4 pot brakes rarely if ever fade.

All cars have a grey headliner, you will miss the black alacantra headliner. I feel the interior has aged magnificently from the gauges, to the dash to the wood but the dash plastic is harder than most Lexus models.

The GS 450h in 2010 got a bigger trunk 10 cubes to 7 cubes in the past and weighs 4100lbs, on par with an AMG model.

Mike

Mike, Thanks for the input. I should have stated the models in my earlier post. I currently have an 05 C55, 08 E63, and my wife drives a 09 ML 63. I'm thinking of buying the GS to replace the E63 and keep the C55 to tool around with. I do have 2 small kids, so trunk space is important. I have heard some complaints about the space in the 450h.

I have not driven the car yet and will not before I purchase as it is out of state, but owned by someone that I know personally.

You have a friend that is "what I'm assuming" bought the car after the lease. Selling you the same car...for $30K and you wondering about it?

Assuming the car does not have Active suspension and PCS option; its worth over $40K.

Your friend is going to take a 10K loss on a car he not only payed monthly for, but shelled out a bankroll after to own it?

No sh@#! If the car is clean, clear and free of issues, you would be insane to walk away from that. I paid a little over 45K for mine in July. That's 15K!!!!! Holy cow!

P.S. This sounds shaky to me.

Since he's logged on a few times since posting and has even had this thread open...but not answered. I would venture to say it is... shaky.

Shoot I'll buy it , thats a great price and wouldn't mind that at all especially since its a 2010.

Yeah the trunk is smaller, but the 2010 models have a little more space than the 07-09 models.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm picking the car up in June. The lease does not expire for a couple of months and my father is waiting for his 2013 to come in and then I'm going down to pick up the 2010. I will post some pics as soon as I get it.
